Videos need special technology to play them back online, so we recommend uploading them to a free service, like YouTube, to host and play videos. If you'd like to include a video on your website, there are two options available:
Add a link that will redirect your visitors to a separate website where the video can be played.
Embed a video player from another website within the page text to play directly from your website.
Below are step-by-step instructions on how to do both.
Link to a video
First, copy the URL of the website where the video can be played, then visit the page on your community website where you would like to add the copied URL. Users with "pages" administrative or editing privileges will see an "Edit page" button on the website. Clicking this button will redirect you to the Admin Portal, where you can update this page.
Next, click the "Edit text" or "Edit leading text" button to open the text editor. Here, type the text you'd like to display. Then, highlight that text and click the link icon in the editor menu, which looks like a chainlink. This will open a pop-up text box where you can paste the video URL copied earlier. Click the green checkmark to save the URL.
Once all changes have been made, click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. Now, visitors will be able to click on the link and be redirected to your video.
Embed a YouTube video
To embed a video, first, go to the source/website of the video you would like to embed. Please be sure you are on the page where the video is playing.
Next, click on the "Share" button below the video.
From here, select "Embed."
The next menu offers several options for embedding the video. Once you've selected these settings, click "Copy."
Select to edit the page on the website where you'd like to embed the video. In the Admin Portal, click the "Edit text" or "Edit leading text" button to open the text editor. Here, click the HTML icon from the editor menu.
In the HTML snippet, paste the iframe copied and click the green checkmark on the right-hand side. Lastly, click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. The video will now be accessible from the page you've added it to on your website!
Note: The embed code given isn’t “responsive,” meaning it has a fixed width. Unlike the other content posted to your website, an embedded video will not resize to fit the screen when viewed from a mobile device.
